Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how PlayBlog uses cookies and similar technologies (like local storage) when you visit playblog.site. It works together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more broadly.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Cookies allow a site to remember things like your preferences or whether you've visited before. They are widely used across the web and are not inherently harmful, but they can be used to track browsing behavior, which is why we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
2. The categories we use
We group cookies into three categories:
2.1 Essential cookies
These are required for the Site to function. They cannot be disabled in our system. Currently, the only essential cookie we set is one that remembers your cookie consent choice, so we don't show you the banner on every visit.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
playblog_consent_v1 |
Stores your cookie consent choice (essential / all). | 180 days | First-party, essential |
2.2 Analytics cookies
These would be used to understand how visitors use the Site (which pages are popular, how visitors arrive). We do not currently run any analytics service. If we add one, we will update this policy before enabling it, and we will only set analytics cookies if you have given consent.
2.3 Advertising cookies
Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Advertising cookies are only set if you have given consent through our cookie banner. Specific cookies that may be set by Google include:
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
__gads, __gpi |
Google AdSense cookie used to serve ads based on prior visits. | 13 months (Google's stated maximum) | Third-party (Google), advertising |
IDE |
Used by Google's advertising partners to serve ads based on prior visits. | Up to 13 months | Third-party (Google / DoubleClick), advertising |
NID |
Used by Google to customize ads on Google services. | Up to 6 months | Third-party (Google), advertising |
The exact cookies Google sets can change over time; the most up-to-date list is on Google's own "Types of cookies used by Google" page.
3. Managing cookies
3.1 Through our banner
When you first visit the Site, a banner asks whether you accept all cookies or want
essential cookies only. Your choice is remembered for 180 days. You can change your
choice at any time by clearing the playblog_consent_v1 cookie in your
browser, or by clicking the "Cookie settings" link if we add one in the future.
3.2 Through your browser
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. The exact steps vary by browser:
If you disable essential cookies, the Site may not work properly — for example, the cookie banner may reappear on every visit because we cannot remember your choice.
3.3 Through Google's opt-out tools
To opt out of Google's personalized advertising, visit Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices.
4. Local storage
In addition to cookies, we use the browser's localStorage API to remember
your cookie consent choice (because it persists longer and is not sent with every
request). Local storage is cleared if you clear your browser's site data.
5. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy if we add or remove cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest material change.
